Do you want to learn a secret? I’m obsessed. Yes, it’s true. I’m obsessed with PROBARS and I can’t help it. My favorite is the Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter flavor. This is like having breakfast, but actually eating a dessert – god I love it. The upside is that PROBARS are much better for your health than a full slice of chocolate cake, but that doesn’t mean that it’s any less delicious. The only problem I have with PROBARS is that they are so damn expensive. So what’s the solution to my little problem? Making my own version of breakfast bars.
Here’s is what’s good about these breakfast bars: They are full of protein, important fatty acids, vitamins, minerals and fiber. There’s only one thing that you should keep an eye on: If you don’t want to gain excessive weight, don’t eat too much of them throughout your week. These breakfast bars have so many calories that they will give you an energy boost for the entire day!
Feel free to use other seeds and nuts than the ones I’ve listed below. I know that everyone has his or her own preferences here. Personally, I like to use Pecans, Hazelnuts, Walnuts and Almonds. But you are pretty much free to use whatever is available without having to fear that you screw something up, because you can’t!
Ingredients For Power Breakfast Bars:
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
- 1 cup hazelnuts
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/3 cup agave nectar
- 1/2 cup sesame seeds
- 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
- 1 cup almonds
- 1/4 cup chia seeds
- chocolate chips
- 1 cup corn meal
Mix all the dry ingredients (seeds, oats, meal, sugar) in a very large bowl. Add in the agave nectar, chocolate chips, and all the different nuts you are using. Pour your breakfast bar mixture into a greased baking dish and flatten the mix. Wait a couple of hours. Enjoy.
