I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a copy of Vegan phenom Brendan Brazier's new book Thrive Foods: 200 Plant Based Recipes for Peak Health. It was like Christmas morning when I came home from work and found the package on my doorstep. I opened the package, opened the book, and could not put it down! Let me tell you a little bit about Brendan Brazier first (if you don't know already!)
Brendan Brazier is a former professional Ironman triathlete and is also the creator of the amazing brand of Vegan sports supplements and food line VEGA. As a guest lecturer for Cornell University, Brendan is considered to be one of the world's foremost authorities on plant-based nutrition. In 2007 Brendan released his first book The Thrive Diet and since then has taken the word of an ethical, environmentally friendly, and healthy lifestyle through plant-based foods all over North America.
In Thrive Foods, Brendan explains in a easy and relatable way how our food impacts us, animals, and the planet. He dives into how each food is grown, what refined and processed foods actually do to our health and the planet - and what we can do to be the healthiest we can be.
Brendan, not being a professional chef himself, enlisted the help of some of the world's leading Vegan foodies! Some of the 200 recipes featured were created by Amanda Cohen, Matthew Kenney, Julie Morris, Chad Sarno, Tal Ronnen (one of my personal favorites!), and recipes from some of his favorite restaurants from all over North America!
The recipes in Thrive Foods concentrate on a nutrient-dense and raw diet (thought not all recipes are raw!). I, of course, had to try one of the desserts. As I was flipping through the pages - this little number caught my eye "Summery Simple Peach Tart". I like Summer. I like Simple. And man do I like Peaches. So I whipped it up in a few minutes and was left with this absolutely delicious (almost 100% raw - minus my tofu whipped cream!) dessert!
You guys gotta get this book! It's filled with such amazing facts and knowledge to help every person be the healthiest possible YOU!

That dessert looks great, I'll have to check out the book.
ReplyDeleteThanks!! It's a great book!
