Oven Roasted French Fries
As much as I would like to say that I never eat fast food, that isn't true. Sometimes I'm just in the mood for some Burger King french fries. Only once and a while though! The next time I'm craving french fries though, I'm totally making these again! They're so simple to make and so delicious! Plus there isn't any of those gross ingredients that the fast food companies put in their fries (I hope you all know McDonald's french fries aren't vegan. They're not even vegetarian actually. They're coated in cow fat.)
Ingredients:
3 large russet potatoes or 6 medium red or yellow potatoes
1 tbsp light oil
1/2-1 tsp garlic powder
1/2-1 tsp onion powder
salt and pepper to taste
Preheat the oven to 450F.
Peel and cut your potatoes into the classic "french fry" shape. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray. Place the cut potatoes on the baking sheet and drizzle with oil. Then toss with the seasonings. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and crispy!
Enjoy and Happy Eating!

Burger King French Fries aren't vegan either, just saying :) But your hot chips looks great. Yum!

I think BK's fries are vegan, here's what the ingredients are:
ReplyDeleteFRENCH FRIES: Potatoes, partially hydrogenated vegetable shortening (soybean oil), modified potato and corn starch, rice flour, dextrin, salt, leavening (sodium acid pyrophosphate, sodium bicarbonate), corn syrup solids, xanthan gum, dextrose.
Also found this:
"The French fries used to contain natural flavorings derived from meat products (chicken based amino acid) and now the French fries do not contain any natural flavoring derived from meat products and are therefore suitable for vegetarians. They are cooked separate from any meat products."
Thanks Hally!
ReplyDeleteThe Vegan Swedes - From the research I've done also, I've found that Burger King french fries are Vegan.
McD's fries are even more exciting:
ReplyDeleteFrench Fries:
Potatoes, vegetable oil (canola oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, natural beef flavor [wheat and milk derivatives]*, citric acid [preservative]), dextrose, sodium acid
pyrophosphate (maintain color), salt. Prepared in vegetable oil (Canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil with TBHQ and citric acid added to
preserve freshness). Dimethylpolysiloxane added as an antifoaming agent.
now with foam-free, beef flavor!
Yummy! I bake-oven roast my fries as well at home, I play around with different flavorings, but yours sounds very good!
ReplyDelete@ The Vegan Swedes- in the USA Burger King French Fries are vegan, they also fry them in a different oil than they fry their meat products. Maybe in Europe they are not vegan, everything is different-even fast foods when you compare them between Europe and USA.
In India they cannot use beef fat or flavoring in their French Fries, I wish they did not use it all over the world.

ReplyDeleteThey look fantastic - see, Home Made Vegan French Fries Rock!! ~ and by making 'em at home you're not supporting the senseless murder of animals or destruction of the Rain Forests. None of the fast food fries are truly Vegan, and cooking at home is so much cheaper & way more gratifying. I hope you enjoyed every last morsel of them, ...pass the catsup, please!
ReplyDeleteVeggie burgers and oven fries for dinner and movie night! Mmmmmm....
ReplyDeleteI just made these and it smells delicious! Thank you for posting the recipe!
ReplyDeleteCarol - Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteSally - Sounds yummy! What kind of veggie burgers?
Sonia - You're very welcome!
These were really great and super easy. Mine didn't get very crispy, like I like my fries, but the taste was still really good so it didn't really matter. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Thanks disappointingentertainment! Some of mine didn't get super crunchy either, but were still really good!
